Synthetic data to protect health privacy, I am the first to obtain certification in Europe
Aindo, a company that has developed and patented a synthetic data generation platform to protect privacy, is the first company in Europe to be certified for data protection for processing activities related to the generation of synthetic data in the healthcare field. The Aindo platform (Aindo Synthetic Data Platform) has obtained Europrivacy certification from DNV, an independent body that provides global assurance and risk management services, the only one currently officially recognized in all EU states according to the requirements of art. 42 of the GDPR.
This certification assesses the compliance of data processing activities in accordance with the GDPR and complementary national regulations on data protection and was issued by DNV under Accredia accreditation (national accreditation body), which operates in agreement with the Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data.
Although the use of synthetic data can be extended to various sectors, from the financial market to the insurance market, this certification specifically recognizes Aindo's commitment in the healthcare sector to innovate medical and pharmaceutical research thanks to the potential of Artificial Intelligence. In the health field, this aspect is particularly important: analyses on health data can lead to new diagnostic and pharmacological knowledge for the treatment of specific pathologies or for the identification of factors of risk.
The synthetic data, generated by Aindo through a patented AI algorithm, are statistically indistinguishable from real data but are devoid of personal information and can therefore be analyzed in a more secure way, protecting the privacy of individuals. “It took about eight months to reach this goal, but in the end our proprietary platform obtained the Europrivacy certification. This is a milestone, as we are the first company in Europe to have obtained it, becoming even more the ideal partners to support companies, institutions and bodies that are facing various challenges in the healthcare field, encouraging scientific research while respecting privacy.
Special thanks go to Davide Ruffo, Chief of Institutional Relations of the company and Vanessa Cocca, of the law firm Crclex and DPO of Aindo, for their commitment and dedication in achieving this extraordinary goal,” says Daniele Panfilo, co-founder and CEO of Aindo. “The Aindo certification, subject to verification on our part and alongside the inspectors present for the accreditation phases, was a satisfying journey, especially thanks to the great collaboration between all the participants.
Aindo, his staff and collaborators have not only demonstrated great competence, but also an extraordinary collaborative spirit and incredible proactivity,” says Giovanni Francescutti, Head of Global Sales Enablement and Head of the Dnv Verification Group.
